Memo to City Council January 17,2003, Ramsey County Public Works Facility Cost Comparison Page 2 of2 Conclusions Staff has concluded that the total amount of heated and unheated space is not significantly different from one study to another. The heated space, Administration, under TKDA was 3,914 sq. ft. and under Ramsey Co./BWBR was 3,974 sq. ft. The vehicle space under TKDA was 17,714 sq. ft. and under Ramsey Co./BWBR was 17,070 sq. ft. The total for both under the TKDA was 21,628 sq. ft. and under Ramsey Co./BWBR was 2 1,040 sq. ft. The most obvious difference was the cost differential on a square foot basis. In the TKDA space study, the average cost for the heated space was $103.00 per sq. ft. and the amount identified under the Ramsey Co./BWBR study was $ I 22.00 per sq. ft., an 18% cost increase. The same can be said for cold storage. The areas are relativcly the same. Under TKDA, it was 2,261 sq. ft. and under Ramsey Co./BWBR was 2,984 sq. ft. The most obvious difference was the price on a square foot basis. On the TKDA study, cold storage was $36.05 per sq. ft. and Ramsey Co/BWBR was $52.44 per sq. ft, a cost increase of 45%. The largest difference was found in the site and out building work space. TKDA has parking and out work at $14,040.00, Ramsey Co./BWBR at $574,487.00. This is a cost increase of 4,000%. e e .
