As new ronstruction occurs, Guidant intends to raise !he architectural proIiIe of its
buildings. At lhe same time, choices in design and materials will Ile made in such a way that new
construction wiOharmonize with !he existing buildings on campus.

The highest level of detail willle found in lhe proposed Tlaining Center (Bldg. L) and Administrative
Building (Bldg. K). This pair of buildings wiR be at the focal point of Guidanrs . 'new front door' on
Lexingtoo Avenue, and lhey will be descnbed in ~reater detal below. It is anticipated flat olher new
buildings of less significance may employ similar materials to those used in the Tlaining Center, but
perhaps exhllit less delaR. The palette of possible materials ilcIude: brick, arch.i1ectulal precast
concrete, stone or cast stone, metal panel, and glass. Where additions to eXisting buildings occur (e.g.:
Additions I and J) their design will be used to Improve the appearance of lhe structu.~. Guidaofs recent
building iin\mlvements haw induded Ihe cafeteria adlfllion on !he west side of BuikIIng B and the
complete Je-dadding of BuikIing F. These projects prt>vide some illustration of the possible challlCter of
future conslnJction.

The TlainilgCenter, labeled 'Building L' in Ihe. At lhat time, Guidant plesented illustrations and material
~s that desaibed lhe appearance of the prt>posed buikling. Also shQvm. were a variety of material
samples from existing buildings on Guidanrs campus.
