As you know, this has been the subject of several meetings, and some <br />considerable speculation over the past year. At a meeting called on August 11th by <br />Commissioners wiessner, Reinhardt, and Bennett, several of us who were present (along with <br />prosecuters, police representatives, and county commissioners) learned that the Chief <br />Judge is planning to close the court at the beginning of September. He says this is due <br />to his ruling last year that the facilities were "inadequate" under state statute, and _ <br />more recently because of budget difficulties. ,. <br /> <br />Several of us talked via e-mail and by phone over the past week, and it was suggested that <br />a draft resolution be sent out to each city manager/administrator in Ramsey County for <br />individual Council action at the next meeting. There is a follow-up meeting scheduled <br />with Chief Judge Mott on August 25, probably at the White Bear Training Center (behind <br />City Hall on Hwy 61).
