Resolution 03-58: A Resolution Adopting Truth in Taxation <br />Hearing Dates for Proposed Taxes Payable in 2004 <br /> <br />Overview <br /> <br />By September 15th cities are required to adopt and certify to the County their preliminary levy <br />and truth in taxation dates for the upcoming fiscal year. <br /> <br />Preliminary Levy <br /> <br />As discussed at previous budget work sessions, the preliminary levy is proposed to increase by <br />three percent for a total proposed 2004 levy of $2,333,337. This contemplates levying back the <br />60% oflost state aids allowable under legislatively mandated levy limits. <br /> <br />Truth in Taxation Hearing <br /> <br />In keeping with past practice, the truth in taxation hearing date has been set for the first Monday <br />of December, or December 1st. Ifnecessary, a continuation hearing has been set for December <br />4th with the adoption hearing being set for December 9th. On the 9th, it is anticipated that the <br />Council will consider adopting the final budget and levy for 2004. <br /> <br />Reqnested Action <br /> <br />1.
