<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />City of Arden Hills <br />Job Description <br /> <br />POSITION: <br />DEPARTMENT: <br />REPORTS TO: <br /> <br />Civil Engineer <br />Operations and Maintenance <br />Director of Operations and Maintenance <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br /> <br />To provide professional engineering advice on planning, design, construction, inspection, <br />administration and maintenance of public infrastructure consistent with City Council policy <br />and with federal and state regulations. This position will also perform routine and complex <br />technical engineering work including computer-aided design (CAD). <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION <br /> <br />Plan, develop, and implement engineering projects including feasibility reports, design, <br />construction, Pavement Management Program (PMP), financing and contract <br />administration; serve as project manager on Operations and Maintenance improvement <br />projects. <br /> <br />Prepare preliminary and final design for Operations and Maintenance projects, including <br />sanitary sewers, water-main, storm sewer, street and aU related facilities or structures; <br />prepare the preparation of plans, specifications, advertisement for bids, contracts, deeds, <br />easements and any other contract administration work. <br /> <br />Assist in the selection and administration of private consultants' contracts and monitor the <br />.utilization of consultants to supplement in-house design work. <br /> <br />Assist in the preparation of special assessment rolls and other financial data. <br /> <br />Manage the City's Pavement Management Program (PMP) and develop and recommend <br />program strategies. <br /> <br />Assist in the preparation of various reports including the five-year capital improvement <br />program, annual budget, departmental reports and state and federal applications and <br />grants. <br /> <br />Respond to citizen inquiries and requests regarding engineering projects; research <br />complaints and inquiries regarding problems and the availability of services; determine <br />solutions. <br /> <br />Considerable skill in the use and administration of Geographic Information Systems, <br />including Arcview GIS software. <br />
