Individuals who will be absent or are otherwise prevented from <br />going to the pollitig place on election day because of a disability may vote by "absentee ballot" . <br />by completing a "Request for Absentee Ballot" application. Once an Absentee Ballot <br />Application has been received by City Hall, ballot materials are mailed to the voter. The voter <br />then casts their vote on the official ballot, places it the provided secrecy envelope, and mails it to <br />City Hall in the provided Absentee Ballot Mailing Envelope. This Absentee Ballot Mailing <br />Envelope includes: a section on the back where the voter must complete certain information and <br />provide their signature. All envelopes received at City Hall must go through the required review <br />process. <br /> <br />In years of Presidential elections, a significant amount of these absentee ballots are applied for <br />hy residents who cannot attend the poll on either election day. For this reason, we would like to <br />designate a board consisting of City Hall staff members to accept/reject these envelopes to save <br />the Election Judges from having to perform this task on Election Day. <br /> <br />Recommendation' <br />Approve the resol~tion adopting an Absentee Ballot Board for the 2004 Election Season. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />\\Earth\Admin\Elections\2004\Absentee Ballots\CC Memo on AB Board,doc <br />
