.

Crime Prevention Services

The Neighborhood Watch Program

This program has proven to be one of the most effective and least costly
answers in preventing crime in our neighborhoods. A neighborhood watch
group is an association of neighbors who agree to look out for the safety and
security of every member of their neighborhood community. This is done by
neighborhoods getting to know each other and through continued
communication with each other and the sheriffs office. The neighborhood'
watch program works to educate its participants in the principles of
deterrence, detection, and the reporting of crimes and suspicious activity.

When I started in June we had 83 active neighborhood watch groups within
our contract communities. Through my efforts thus far we have a total of
113 neighborhood watch groups.

The following is a breakdown by community of our current neighborhood
watch groups.

.

Arden Hills
Gem Lake
Little Canada
North Oaks
Shoreview
Vadnais Heights
White Bear Twp

13
Pending
16
2
36
19
27

The Business Watch Program

This program has proved to be one of the most effective and least costly
answers to preventing crime in business areas.

A business watch group is an association of businesses who agree to look
out for the safety and security of every member oftheir business community.
This is done by owners, managers, and employees getting to know each
other and through continued communication with each other.

The business watch program works to educate its participants in the
principles of deterrence, detection and reporting of crimes and suspicious
activity.

.
