<br />Arden Hills Economic DeveloDment Commission ProDosed Ordinance Lanl!:ual!:e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Establishment of Commission. An Economic Development Commission is hereby <br />established to facilitate positive interaction with the business community and advise the <br />City Council and Economic Development Authority on economic development, <br />redevelopment, and related community development issues. <br /> <br />Composition. The Economic Development Commission shall consist of seven members <br />appointed by the City Council. Membership shall be open to any resident or non-resident <br />business representative that is interested in the business climate and economic <br />development direction of the City. Any member of the Commission may be removed by <br />a majority vote ofthe City Council. <br /> <br />Terms and Compensation. Appointment to the Economic Development Commission <br />shall be made on an annual basis. Commission members shall serve without <br />compensation. <br /> <br />Vacancies. In the case of a vacancy during the term of office of any member ofthe <br />Commission, the City Council shall appoint a member to serve the remainder of the term. <br />A vacancy shall exist if any of the following occur: death, failure to serve, or resignation. <br /> <br />Organization. The Mayor, with approval of the City Council, shall annually appoint one <br />member to serve as Chair of the Commission. The Chair shall be responsible for meeting . <br />agendas, presiding at meetings, minutes of meetings, and reports and recommendations to <br />the City Council. Subcommittees of the Commission may be formed from time to time <br />based on the needs ofthe City and Commission. The Commission shall annually appoint <br />a member to serve as Vice-Chair. <br /> <br />Meetings and Reports. The Commission shall hold meetings every other month, or <br />more frequently as needed. It shall keep minutes which shall be forwarded to the City <br />Council. The Community Development Director shall be the official staff liaison to the <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Dnties and Functions. The duties and functions of the Commission shall be as follows: <br /> <br />A. Endeavor to secure a full and complete understanding of the City's needs and <br />desires for economic development activities. <br /> <br />B. Create a focal point for the economic development efforts of the City. <br /> <br />C. Assist with the development of a business retention and attraction program. <br /> <br />D. Provide input and direction on the City's marketing and communication efforts. <br /> <br />. <br />
