They <br />wanted to introduce themselves and provide me with information about the benefits of their <br />organization. I have asked them to attend the work session to provide you with similar <br />background inforrhation. If this something that the Council is interested in pursuing, we would <br />be able to plan it accordingly with the 2005 budget preparation. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The MMNCVB isa tourism organization whose mission "is to promote economic growth for its <br />members as a preferred destination for events, meetings, and tourism." Current, member cities <br />include the following: <br />Anoka Blaine <br />Brooklyn Center Brooklyn Park <br />Coon Rapids Fridley <br />Ham Lake Maple Grove <br />Mounds View Shoreview <br />Some of the benefits of membership articulated by Mr. Musil and Mr. Backman include the <br />following: . <br /> <br />. Direct referrals for tourism inquiries for our area <br />. Leads distributed to your properties for group business <br />. Affiliation with the National Sports Center on sporting events taking pace there and in <br />other areas <br />. Advertising in state and regional publications <br />. Printed visitors guides distributed through the Minnesota office of Tourism and other <br />tourism related outlets <br />. Promotion of public venues within member cities <br />. Marketing of local festival <br />
