<br />- <br /> <br />~ <br />~~HILLS <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: July 13, 2004 <br /> <br />TO: Scott Clark, Director of Community Development <br /> <br />FROM: Dave Scherbel, Building Official 9~. <br />SUBJECT: Electrical Inspector <br /> <br />The City's cunent electrical inspcctor, Dick Nelson of North Metro Inspections, is retiring as of <br />July 31. 2004. Mr. Nclson will continue to close out all permits issued on or before July 31, <br />2004. As of August 1, 2004, tbe City will need to contract with anotber individual for electrical <br />inspection services. <br /> <br />Backl!rDund . <br />The City has historically contracted an inspector who is shared with the cities of Little Canada, <br />North Oaks, North St. Paul, Rosville, and Shoreview. Proposals were solicited to provide <br />electrical inspection services. Of approximately 60 application packets mailed out, 8 wcre <br />returned. Staff, along with the othcr cities, interviewed the top 4 candidates. Thc candidate <br />receiving the most points was Peter Tokle of Peter T okle Inspections. StafI has rcviewed <br />references and conducted the necessary background checks. Peter comes with high praise fyom <br />the City of Brooklyn Center who currently contracts with him to provide their inspection <br />services. Peter plans to hire additional staff to accommodate his increased work load and will <br />accept the samc fee and contract as is currently with our current electrical inspector. The <br />contract will be reviewed by the City Attorney. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the hiring of Peter Tokle for electrical inspections <br />services with a start date of August I, 2004. <br /> <br />. <br />
