The current 5 year CIP includes the Red Fox Grey Fox neighborhood for reconstruction and overlay in 2005. As we discussed at our last Engineering update meeting on August 13,2004, we should begin preparation of the feasibility report and notification of area businesscs of the planned improvements soon to ensure the project can be designed and let early in 2005. Although there are no private residences in this project area, we will need to coordinate with several businesses and the project includes the use of state aid funds which require additional review by MnDOT prior to bid. For these reasons and the desire to open bids before April of 2005, we should begin the feasibility report in September. Business Communication We would propose contacting businesses immediatcly to let them know of the project and either meet individually with property managers/owners or schedule a public meeting as appropriate based upon our contacts. We are requesting that Council authorize URS to begin the preparation of a feasibility report and begin contacting area businesses. Our professional services will be accomplished in accordance with our contract based upon thc construction value of the project as outlined in my work authorization letter forwarded to you previously. Recommendation The City Engineer recommcnds that Council authorize staff and URS to gather information, contact businesses and prepare the feasibility report for the 2005 PMP Red Fox Grey Fox Commercial arca.
