<br />~ <br /> <br />(~ <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />~ <br />~!lILLS <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 349 <br /> <br />An Ordinance Creating an Economic Development Commission <br /> <br />The City Council of Arden Hills hcreby ordains that the following section is added to the <br />Municipal Code: <br /> <br />Section 220.04 Economic Development Commission <br /> <br />Suhd. 1 Establishment of Commission. An Economic Development Commission is <br />hereby established to facilitate positive interaction with the business community and advise thc <br />City Council and Economic Dcvelopment Authority on economic development, redevelopmcnt, <br />and related community development issues. <br /> <br />Suhd. 2 Composition. The Economic Development Conunission shall consist of seven <br />members appointed by the City Council. Membership shall be open to any resident or non. <br />resident busincss representative that is interested in the business climate and economic <br />development direction of the City. There shall be at least three Arden Hills residents represented <br />on the Commission. Any member 0 f the Commission may bc rcmoved by a majority vote of the <br />City Council. <br /> <br />Subd.3 Attendance at Meetings. Any member of the Economic Development <br />Commission who has unexcused absences fTom three consecutive rrieetings, or a total of one- <br />third of all meetings in a calendar year, shall automatically be removed from offiee without City <br />Council action. The City Administrator shall notify the member of his or her removal. <br /> <br />Subd.3 Terms and Compensation. Appointment to thc Economic Development <br />Commission shall be made on an arillual basis, or more often if required. Members shall be <br />appointed for three year tenns bcginning on February I" and cnding on January 31 st of the third <br />ycar. Initial appointments shall be as follows: three members shall be appointcd for a tenn of <br />three years, two members shall be appointed for a term of two years, and two members shall be <br />appointed for a tem1 of one year. Commission members shall serve without compensation. <br /> <br />Sllhd. 4 Vacancies. In the case 0 f a vacancy during the tenn of office of any member of <br />the Commission, the City Council shall appoint a member to serve the remainder of the temJ. A <br />vacancy shall exist ifany ofthe following occur: death, failure to serve, or resignation. <br /> <br />SHlld S O"ganization. The Mayor, with approval of the City Council, shall annually <br />appl,'1l1 one member to serve as Chair of the Commission. The Chair shall be responsible for <br /> <br />#349 - I <br />
