<br />~ <br />.---A~HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />September 27,2004 <br /> <br />AgendaItem 3.B <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Peter Hellegers, City Planne@ <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Case #04-02 <br />Bethel University <br />Special Use Permit (SUP) Master Plan Amendment / Site Plan Review Changes <br />- Sophomore Dormitory <br />3900 Bethel Drive <br /> <br />ReQuested Action <br /> <br />The applicant is requesting approval of two amendments to their Special Use Permit (SUP) <br />Master Plan; to allow for a minor change to allow for a stair access to the roof and a reduction in . <br />new landscaping, <br /> <br />Update <br /> <br />At their March 29, 2004 meeting the City Council approved a Special Use Permit Master Plan <br />Amendment, subject to eleven conditions, that moved a dormitory from the southcrn part of the <br />campus to the northeast part of the campus and approved the site plan for the dormitory, <br />Subscquent to that meeting construction has began on the dormitory and Bethel University <br />discovered two amendments that they would like the Council to approve, The proposed <br />amendments are: <br /> <br />A. Building Height Amendment for Stair Access to the Roof <br /> <br />At the time that the Sophomore Residence Hall was considered for approval by the <br />Council, a full stair access to the roof had been removed from the plans in favor of a <br />ship's ladder access which would provide cost savings. Since that time Bethel University <br />has discovered that costs would now allow for the full stair access to the roof.
