He <br />stated they had told AT,S. Steel, Inc, that they could not pay the $2,6 million, but <br />they would not interfere if A.T.S. Steel, Inc. chose to market or lease the property, <br />He stated he had learned a month ago that AT.S. Steel, Inc. was marketing the <br />property for 2.0 million. He stated once they found that out, they had been <br />attempting to contact AT.S. Steel, Inc. because this was a range they felt was <br />more reasonable for this property. He stated they had never refused to meet or talk <br />with AT.S. Steel, Inc. or their attorney. He indicated he believed they could still <br />work something out that would work for both parties. He stated their interest was <br />to do the best thing for both AT.S. Steel, Inc. and Chesapeake Properties. He <br />stated he hoped to have this ready in 12 months, but there was a possibility he <br />might need to come back to the Council in 12 months and request another <br />extension. He indicated it took a lot of time to work out this type of a development <br />with a large company, He indicated an extension of their PUD was separate from . <br />their negotiations with AT.S. Steel, Inc, <br /> <br />Council Member Aplikowski indicated she was struggling with the request for the <br />12-month extension. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst noted it was not the Council's job to negotiate a selling price <br />between the buyer and seller and it appeared both the buyer and the seller were at <br />least willing to sit down and negotiate the sale of this property. He indicated it was <br />in the City's best interest to extend the time and urged the Council to approve this, <br /> <br />Council Member Grant asked if they had the authority to extend this extension <br />past the 12 months, if necessary, Mr. Filla replied the Council had this authority <br />and noted this was not a City redevelopment project, and it was not a project the <br />City had agreed to exercise its powers on and beyond that, the City had the <br />authority to do what was in the City's best interest. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council Member Grant moved and Council Member Larson seconded <br />a motion to approve the twelve-month extension of the Chesapeake <br />Master Plan Planned Unit Development. The motion carried (4-1) . <br />(Council Member Aplikowski). <br />
