<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />~ <br />~~ILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />December 15,2004 <br /> <br />Agenda Item <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Murtuza Siddiqui, Finance Director/Treasurer ~ <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Karth Lake District - Final Levy Certification (Resolution No. 04-71) <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On September 13, 2004, the Council approved a preliminary special levy, payable 2005, for the <br />Karth Lake District Pumping Station in the amount of$13,782,67, <br /> <br />In 2003, the Council had approved a special levy for the Pumping Project to be charged to the <br />homeowners surrounding the lake. Based on the costs estimates provided last year, the Council <br />approved a levy for this project in an amount not to exceed $49,350, The Council had made a <br />decision to spread this levy over a period ofthree years. <br /> <br />In September, the City received the final cost figures from our Engineers in the amount of <br />$41,348, The amount to be levied each year would be $13,782.67. <br /> <br />In November, staff sent letters to the residents of this district notifying them of the specific levy <br />amount that would be included on their 2005 Property Tax Statement. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Since the City sent a preliminary levy certification to Ramsey County on September 15, 2004, it <br />would be appropriate to send them a final levy certification. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION: <br />Staff recommends approving resolution number 04-71, certifying the final levy for the Karth <br />Lake Pumping district in the amount of$13,782,67 as a special levy. <br />
