53807.01-201-43
Page3 of 4

.

Summary: The cause of water entry in Areas A and B is the result of discontinuous masonry
flashing. We noted an exposed upturned edge, unsealed seams and an unlapped metal flashing
edge, any or all of which could allow water entry to the building's interior. The repair option
with the greatest likelihood of success will involve removal of three or more courses of masonry
above the flashing. This will allow easy access for repair of the flashing. This repair was
performed around the entire perimeter of the masonry column (Area B). Similar repair of the
flashing in Area A should also be considered.

Another consideration for repair would be the application of a waterproof coating to minimize
the amount of water bypassing the masonry and entering into the masonry cavity. This repair
option has a lower probability for success, as the cause of the problem would not be addressed,
and periodic reapplication would be necessary.

This field test report is prepared for the convenience of our customer and endeavors to provide
accurate and timely project information.
