Johnson, Assistant to the City Administrator 1::>6 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Requesting City Council Authorization to Begin the Recruitment Process <br />for Two Operations and Maintenance Department Employees <br /> <br />ENCLOSURES: <br /> <br />Proposed Operations and Maintenance Employee Job Description <br /> <br />OVERVIEW <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />City staff is requesting City Council authorization to begin the recruitment process for two <br />Operations and Maintenance Department employees. City staff anticipates that Operations and <br />Maintenance Department employees Fred Reed and Fred Bell will be retiring on June I, 2005. <br />Staff would like to initiate the recruitment process in order to minimize the potential impact on <br />the Operations and Maintenance Department. <br /> <br />Position Description <br /> <br />For your information a copy of the Operations and Maintenance Work job description is <br />attached. This is essentially the same position description that was used in the 2002 Operations <br />and Maintenance worker recruitment process. <br /> <br />Per the union contract, the 2005 salary range for this position is $2541.00 to $2895.00 per month. <br /> <br />Proposed Recruitment Process <br /> <br />The recruitment process would include resume screening, two rounds of interviews, background <br />checks, physical exams, and drug testing. Some additional steps may also be taken (such as skill <br />testing) to narrow down the candidate list. <br /> <br />The City Council will be asked to approvc the appointments prior to final job offers being given . <br />to the top candidates. <br />
