Memorandum
April 18, 2005
Page 2

Maintenance eosts are estimated in the $30,000 range annually. This cost is based on a fairly
high level of maintenance including mowing of the boulevards and median, and deadheading
plants to promote better flowering.

Watering may need to be done by the City after the two year plant material warranty period is
over during dry weather conditions. The total project cost is estimated to be approximately
$290,000 with Ramsey County contributing $155,000 and Arden Hills contributing $135,000.

The intent of the discussion Monday is to review the concept plan prepared by URS. If the
Council is comfortable with the eoncept plan, a resolution authorizing the preparation of final
plans and speeifications will be presented at a future Council meeting, We recommend the final
design be completed during the summer of2005 with bids solicited in the fall of2005 to allow
for planting material to be procured and readied for spring 2006 planting, Based upon discussions
with Ramsey County Public Works staff, the project could be lead by Arden Hills with Ramsey
County financially participating through the use of County state aid funds.

..

.

.

.
