The last
project was completed in 2003. Typically the City has been sealcoating streets within 2-3 years of
reconstruction or overlay work and then on recurring intervals of 8 years. All of the streets
included with this years program have been reconstructed or overlayed within the last 3 years.
City crews perform crack sealing prior to the contractor's sealcoating operation. Following the
sealcoating operation, City crews sweep the streets and collect the excess aggregate material.

Project Description
The project area for this year includes the Karth Lake East neighborhood (overlayed in 2003), the
Ingerson neighborhood (reconstructed in 2003) and the Edgewater neighborhood (reconstructed
in 2004). The project includes a bid alternate for the sealcoating of Cummings Park Drive
(reconstructed in 2003) which could be awarded if bids are favorable. Streets such as Tiller Lane
and Amble Drive are included with this project although they were not part ofthe recent capital
improvements projects. The attached Exhibit illustrates the streets included with the 2005
sealcoat project.

The proposed work indicated here is based on final Plans and Specifications prepared by the City
engineer. The estimated cost of construction is approximatcly $42,000 with the overall Project
cost approximately $50,000. The estimated cost reflects recent discussions with potential
contractors to account for the current oil prices. The adopted budget includes an overall project
cost of $50,000 (general fund). The Lift Station Reconstruction project is funded entirely under
the Sanitary Sewer Enterplise Fund which has a current balance of $1,138,151.

C\DocumenlS and Settings\schav.l1.johnson\Local Settings\Ternporary lnlemet Fi1es\OLK85\Agcnda Memo 5-9-05 2005 Sea1coat Ad
Authorization.doc
