~

~
~LS

.

MEMORANDUM

DATE:

June 15,2005

AGENDA ITEM: 6E

TO: Mayor and City Council

FROM: Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator

SUBJECT: Northwest Area Library Access Task Force

The Ramsey County Library Board has created a Northwest Area Library Access Task Force.
This group will be studying and evaluating services in the northwest portion of the County. As
we discussed at the June 20 work session, each of the three cities involved (New Brighton, Arden
Hills, and Mounds View) is being asked to name representatives to the task force. Arden Hills
will need to appoint one public official or city staff person, and one citizen representative. They
are asking that those appointments be made by July 5; therefore, I have schedule this item for the
June 27 City Council meeting.

The Mayor is recommending the appointment ofthe following representative to the committee: .

Citizen Representative:

Mary Anne Lindberg

As of this writing, the Mayor has not had an opportunity to discuss these appointments with all
the members of the City Council, so the Resolution has been drafted with a blank for the Council
representative and alternate,

The Task Force will also include up to two residents from each community chosen by the
Library Board by means of an application process. We want to assist the process and encourage
our residents to seek out this opportunity to serve the City. Applications are available at the
Arden Hills, Shoreview, Roseville, and Mounds View libraries,

REQUESTED ACTION: Approve Resolution 05-41 appointing representatives to the Northwest
Area Library Access Task Force,

Attachment: Resolution

MW
\\EarthlAdminICity AdminislralarlL1brary\200516-22-05 Memo to Council RE NW Task Force. doc

.
