Johnson, Assistant to the City Administrator S'f:J <br /> <br />Appointment of Joseph Bianco as Operations and Maintenance Worker <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />With the pending retirements of Fred Bell and Fred Reed from the Operations and Maintenance <br />Department, City staff began recruitment efforts for their replacements in early May The City <br />received fifty-four applications for the Operations and Maintenance Worker positions. Twenty- <br />four candidates were asked to participate in the first round interviews. The first round of . <br />interviews was conducted by Jim Perron, Tom Moore, and Schawn Johnson on June 2nd. The <br />first round of interviews involved a fifteen minute interview and a twenty-five question (true- <br />false or multiple choice) exam. Based upon the first round of interviews and the exam scores, <br />the interviewing panel requested that the top seven candidates be invited back to participate in <br />the second round of interviews, Those interviews were conducted on June 14th and 15th. Jim <br />Perron. Tom Moore, Michelle Wolfe, and Schawn Johnson were part of the interview panel for <br />the second round of interviews. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Based upon the interview and exam process, the first recommended candidate is Mr, Joseph <br />Bianco. Mr. Bianco recently moved to Minnesota from the State of New Jersey. He has fifteen <br />years of experience in operations and maintenance related activities with the Borough of Oradel1, <br />New Jersey. Mr. Bianco has extensive experience with road maintenance, snow plowing, street <br />sweeping, heavy equipment operation, and utilities. <br /> <br />Mr. Bianco has also worked in the construction and HV AC field. He has a solid background in <br />the operations and maintenance field and has indicated a strong interest in this position with the <br />City of Arden Hills. Mr. Bianco has scheduled July 11 th as a start date with the City. Reference <br />checks have been completed and the responses from his previous employers have been very <br />positive. <br /> <br />. <br />
