<br />Emergency Opcrations Plan <br />Standin2 Operating Procedure <br /> <br />Emergency Public Information <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> <br />The purposc of this SOP is to cstablish a plan for thc orderly dissemination of ncccssary information to <br />the public, in a timely manner, dUling cmergency or post cmcrgency opcrations. <br /> <br />Direction <br /> <br />All rcleascs to thc mcdia will bc madc through thc Public Information Officc (PIO). The Mayor or City <br />Administrator (or thcir designce) are the only officials authorizcd to pcrform this role. <br /> <br />Method <br /> <br />During an emergcncy: <br /> <br />I. Evaluate the scopc of emcrgcncy and appropriatc PIO response. <br /> <br />2. Establish mcdia bricfing room and time schcdulc for releases/updatcs. . <br />. lfthe scale of the emergency warrants, the Shcriffs Dcpartmcnt office at 141 I Paul Kirkwold <br />Drive, Arden Hills, (651) 266-7300 will be uscd. <br />. Smallcr emergcncics will be addressed through thc City Administrator's officc and City Hall <br />conference rooms. <br />. In all cascs, thc public will acccss information through and from the City Administrator's Office. <br /> <br />3. Inform media ofPIO plan, location, and schedules. <br /> <br />4. Mcet with Opcrations Team leaders (or their dcsignccs) to assess contcnt of information rclcasc and <br />currcnt incident status. <br /> <br />5. Open Public Inf01mation Center to mcdia and public. <br /> <br />6. Releasc prepared message to thc media and lcaders of all city, statc, voluntecr, ctc., servicc groups. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />18 <br />
