<br />, <br /> <br />\ <br /> <br />~ <br />/],\~HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />August 3, 2005 <br /> <br />Agenda Item 3.H. <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Schawn Johnson, Assistant to the City Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Approve Resolution #05-49 Designating the National Incident <br />Management System as the Basis for all Incidcnt Management Responses <br />in the City of Arden Hills <br /> <br />Baekl!round <br />In coordination with the Ramsey County Emergency Management and Homeland Security <br />Division, the federal government is requiring all states, tenitories, tribes, and local governments <br />to approve a resolution adopting the National Incident Management System (NIMS) as the <br />standard federal government system for handling all incident and emergency management <br />situations which may occur within the City of Arden Hills. The National Incident Management <br />System (NIMS) is part of the United States Homeland Security Department. The goal of this <br />federal program is to assist government agencies in managing future domestic incidents by <br />creating a single and comprehensive unit of government that can handle any future catastrophic <br />events. The goal of NIMS is to develop and administer a program that is eompatible with <br />federal, state, and local government entities and provide the highest level of emergency <br />management services. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Beginning January I, 2006, jurisdictions that are currently receiving or will be receiving federal <br />emergency management assistance in the future will be required to adopt a resolution that <br />rceognizes and adopts the National Incident Management System. If a government agency does <br />not pass a resolution recognizing the National Ineident Management System, financial assistance <br />will not be granted to that government agency in the future. <br /> <br />At this time, the following Ramsey County government agencies have passed this mandated <br />resolution: <br />.
