At the present time, all the haulers licensed in Falcon Heights have a contract with
Ramsey County to talce all or part of their waste to the Newport Facility.

.

Contract to take ALL waste to RRF Contracted to take Dart of waste to RRF
Horrigan BFI
Gene's Superior/Onyx
Waste Management Walter's

This information is from the RamseylWashington Counties Resource Recovery Project
website (13). At the Commission's request, Staff contacted the Ramsey County
Enviromnental Health Department and confirmed that the web page is up to date and
accurate. All of these contracts expire July 13,2007.

Residents on both sides of the issue have clearly expressed their support for reducing
waste, and that is also the Commission's highest goal, but there is still a need to make
wise choices in the disposal of that waste that goes into the containers at the curb, to be
picked up and hauled away every week. Under an open system, it is the haulers, often in
distant corporate headquarters, who make that choice about at least part of the waste that
comes from Falcon Heights. Without a renewal ofRRF contracts in 2007, there may be
no local voice in this decision for cities that do not have their own contracts.

Notes

1.

Minnesota Statute I 15A.02. http://www.co.ramsey.mn.us/recovery/index.asp

.

2.
