<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br />~~HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />Agenda Item 3.C. <br /> <br />May 9, 2006 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator <br /> <br />Schawn Johnson, Assistant to the City Administrator sr<S <br />Jim Perron, Operations and Maintenance Superintendent <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />City Council Approval of a Replacement Pump for Lift Station #3 <br /> <br />ENCLOSURES: <br /> <br />Braun Pump & Controls Bid Proposals <br /> <br />Overview <br />On May 2nd, members of the Operations and Maintenance Department noticed that the pump at <br />lift station number three was not operating properly, Members of the Operations and <br />Maintenance Department contacted Braun Pump & Controls for a service call to investigate the <br />situation, Braun Pumps & Controls conducted a performance test on the existing pump and <br />reported that the propeller and shaft were damaged, The proposed replacement parts and labor <br />costs would exceed the monetary value of purchasing a new pwnp. At this time, members of the <br />Operations & Maintenance Department have borrowed a pump from Braun Pump & Controls to <br />ensure that lift station number three is operating efficiently, <br /> <br />Backl!found <br />The existing pump at lift station number three was originally installed in 1998 when the lift <br />station was rebuilt. City staff is proposing the purchase of an ABS Pump Model AFP I 049,5, <br />The proposed ABS pump has a 10 horse power engine and a 5 year non-prorated warranty, <br /> <br />Recommendation- <br />City staff recommends the purchase of one (1) ABS Pump Model AFPI049,5 for the purchase <br />cost of $6,500 (including the estimated cost for sales tax and freight charges), City staff would <br />install the new pump at lift station three, <br />
