. . . ~ ~HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: AGENDA ITEM: Pre-meeting Work Session July 31,2006 TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator SUBJECT: Regional Transportation: Highways 10 and 96; 1-694 One of the goals identified by the City Council at the March 2006 retreat was to develop City positions regarding various regional transportation issues. As a first step towards that goal, the City invited representatives from MnDOT and Ramsey County to a recent Council Work Session. Some updates and historical information were provided. At the conclusion of the discussion, Council directed that an additional work session be scheduled. A few items mentioned by various members of the Council included: · The ability to roll out previous concept plans and see what kinds of options had previously been contemplated; · Review key terms and design standards that enter into the discussion on these types of projects; and · Continue to identify issues and goals that the city has relating to the intersection of Highways 96 and 10, the future role of Highway 10 in the State's highway system, future reconstruction plans for 1-694, and the City's access to the highway system in general. With that in mind, we have again invited MnDOT, Ramsey County, and 1-35W corridor Coalition officials to a work session on July 31 and have an agenda generally proposed as follows: 5:30--6:00 p.m. Open House-style format. Various plans, maps and documents will be available for Council to review, and staff from the City, MnDOT, Ramsey County, and 1-35W Corridor Coalition will be available to answer questions. MnDOT presentation on terminology, definitions, design standards, funding, and other helpful background information. General City Council discussion, Q&A 6:00-6:20 p.m. 6:20-6:45 It is my plan to schedule an additional work session for the Council to discuss these topics further in the near future.
