<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />~ <br />EN HILLS <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />Agenda Item: 7D <br /> <br />October 3, 2006 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br />MIchelle Wolfe, CIty Admmlstrator ,!~r <br /> <br />Karen Barton, Commumty Development DlrcctO(~ . <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Arden Hills Economic Development Strategic Plan <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />In December of 2005, the City Council authorized the Economic Deve]opment Commission (EDe) to <br />hire a consultant to prepare an Economic Deve]opment Strategic Plan for the City, The EDC immediately <br />began the RFP process and in March of2006 hired DeSCo Solutions, Inc" to prepare the Plan. <br /> <br />DeSCo in collaboration with the EDC gathered infonnation through research and interviews with City <br />Officials, Key Leaders and Stakeholders, as well as through a city-wide survey, then used this information <br />to prepare the attached Economic Development Strategic Plan, <br /> <br />The EDC has since reviewed the Plan and, after making some changes to the Plan, has recommended <br />adoption and implementation of this plan in and for the City of Arden IIills, <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />The Strategic Plan calls for a number of programs and policies to be implemented to better serve the <br />busincss community, citizens, and overall economy of the City of Arden Hills, Mr. Bruce Kunkel, Chair <br />of the EDC will present the plan at tonight's meeting, <br /> <br />SlaffRecommendation <br /> <br />Thc Economic Development Commission recommends Council move to approve the Arden Hills <br />Economic Development Strategic Plan and authol1ze staff to budget for the. implementation of said Plan, <br />
