He asked that the property owned by the club <br />described as Lot I, Block 5, Shady Oaks Addition, be'rezoned from R-I <br />to L-B, and that a Special Use PsnnU b(~ ap~roved "rO al 'O~I the cons','ruc- <br />tion and operation of a clubhouse on the property. <br /> <br />Mr. 'Anderson read a prepared statement,(dated December '3, 1971, and <br />on file at the Virlage office) which detailed the history of the <br />SportSfilan Club and i i"5 act I v j t j as I n the commun i ty. He further out lined <br />the past activities of the club in its acquisition of the property <br />j nvo I ved, and the past cHarts by club members ""0 obta i n a perm i t "rO <br />construct a clubhouse on the property. <br /> <br />He listed reasons to show that the proposed clubhouse would be an <br />asset to the area and would not cause adjoining property va~~e9 .to <br />decline. <br /> <br />Mr, Dick Nielson, clubmsmber and teacher from Mounds View HighSchooi, <br />was Introduced. He described the site plan and building design. He <br />said the building and grounds will be designed and landscaped to blend <br />with natural surroundlng5.~hat the ciub Is considering a plan fpr a <br />n~ture Melklng trail, and that the club intends to proper~y maintain <br />The property. <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson submitted a petition containing 239 names, which stated <br />t~at they ware in favor of allowing the Arden Hi I Is Sportsman C1ub to <br />build the proposed ~lubhouSB. <br /> <br />Mayor Crepeau then asked for questions from the f~oor and from Council <br />members. <br /> <br />Councilman Dimen aSked how the <br />site felt about the proposal. <br />i.o it in some cases. <br /> <br />residents Immediately adjacent to ths <br />Mr. Anderson s~ld there was opposition <br /> <br />Icollnci Iman HerTicl< as!\oc! wlHlt <br />and egress to the site. , <br /> <br />kind of plans have been made for Ingress <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson said plans submitted at this meeting show what 15 done to <br />date. <br /> <br />The Counel I discussed the Ra~sey County Open Space program, and the <br />Bction of the County Board of November 27, !971, to acquire a 53-acre <br />open space site, which Included the Sportsman Club property. The <br />Council Indlcatod concern that the c'ub proposaj might jeopardIze the <br />County land acquisition plan. <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson said that, to date~ theciub has not been approached by <br />the County concerning property acquisition. He further stated that he <br />feit the proposed club house would be compatiblo to the open space usa <br />of the adjoining land. <br /> <br />.. ~ ..... <br />
