<br />CHAPTER 6; INFILTRATION BASINS <br /> <br />Infiltration basins are effective in removing both soluble and fine <br />particulate pollutants borne in urban runoff. Coarse-grained pollutants <br />should generally be removed before they enter a basin. Unlike other <br />infiltration systems, basins can be easily adapted t,o provide full control of <br />peak discharges for large design storms. Also, basins can serve relatively <br />large drainage areas (up to 50 acres).
