19
issue. In order to get away frcm a continual breaking up.
however. the stub has been added so that once you go thrcugh a
street and it's been zough graded cver again that .vill be the
ead cf it. Hr: the villaqe intends to finanCe any permanent
improvemnts to the streat thereafter is not yet known bcause the
Council has not come tc that point but they have been setting
aside enough in thtir Read and Bridge Fund fcr certain mainttnanca
of raguldr streets. Gna reason you probably don't want to go into
full paved streets cr things cf that nature is that you den't know
ahat other imprcvements might eventually come in. But it's my
understandin9 from sitting in with the Council befoxe that what
they will do and what will be done here when the contractor gets
done the earth is compaCted. the street will not be continually
dug up and certain treatment will be given tc it out of the rgular
maintenance operation of the Council. If the people want anything more
than that. you can alwsys petltion far a paved street by coming to
your Council nd agreainq ta pay for it.
h'R. JGNES: I have had sevezal people call my home as to the
high cost of the assessments and I think as compared to.Reseville
I think it would be well for you tc compare Rcseville where part
cf it went ea general taxes.
hR. POPOJICH: This is difficult to dc. Pecle say here it's
:61G.5G and we heard that somebody else gct it for $6.50 and somebody
else for ib.25. You must always be careful when you ccmpare
between suburban villages. For exampla, is the terrain and topography
• of the land the same, because this enters into the tosts tco. For
example, dcwn in Newport wheze we were working on some material
abcut a year ago, it's solid rock. There the costs ran over
1.00 a foot. Over in Rosevillo it's dcwn at 56.05and 6.25 but
