�; � MINUTE BOOK <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />P1INUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br />Uillage of Arden Hills <br />Thursday, January 2, 1969 <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Mayor F3jorndahi. <br />Village Attorney Vincent P. Courtney administered offiicial oathes <br />to the following newiy elected Viilage offtcials: <br />Stanley Olmen, Councilman <br />Victar 0. Pomerenke, Jushice ot the Peace <br />Roll Call <br />Present - IIjorndahl, Crepeau, Olmen, Hotlenhorst, Henderson <br />Absent - None <br />Also Prese�t - Village Attorney Vi-ncent P. Courtney, Yillage <br />Fldmi�istrator Lorraine Stromqulst <br />F� A list ot Viliage standing appointments was read by Mayor Bjorndahl. <br />lnformai bids from the New f3righton Bulletin and the Suburban Sun <br />for designation of official Viiiage newspaper were read by the Mayor. <br />Following CounciU discussion of the bids motion was made by Crepeau <br />that the New orighton Builetin be appointed as legal newspaper for <br />the calendar year 1969. The matter was further discussed Dy the <br />Council, pissatisfaction concerning news coverago by the Eiulletin <br />of Village Counci! meetings and municipal activities was expressed, <br />an amended resolution to appointthe E3ulletin for a six month period <br />with the matter to be reconsidered at tfiat time was suggested. <br />Foltowing further discussion, motion was made 6y Crepeau, seconded <br />by Hollenhorst that motfon be amended to appoint the P:ew Brighton <br />Bulletin as IQgal newspaper for a six month period with the matter <br />to be reconsidered at that'time. Motion carried. <br />Motion was made by Crepeau seconded by Olmen that the standing appoint- <br />ment, as per attached list be approved for the calendar year 1969 <br />aith the legat newspaper appointed as per above amended resolutton. <br />A iist of Village Standfng Committees was read by Mayor E3jorndahl. <br />Certain vacancies still exist on some committees. Motion was made <br />by Crepeau seconded by }lenderson that Village Committees for the <br />calendar year 1969 be approved, as per attached ifst, with the <br />vacancies to be filled af a later date. Carried. <br />Councilman Crepeau, acting as Commissioner of Public Safety presented <br />VI!lage Police officers to the Village Council stating that he wanted <br />the Councii to know the entire torce working for the Village. Chief <br />of Police Victor Weber, Lt. Pat Sexton, and officers Mel Fish, Jim <br />Schmaedeke, Gordon fi. Fickett, Jr. and Jerome F. Stradinger were <br />introduced. The Council expressed thanks to the officers for the <br />good job they are dofng for the Viitage. <br />• Upon moti on <br />appraved: <br />• Check <br />,• Carried. <br />by Henderson, seConded by Olmen the toliowing claims were <br />No. 4f345 - Lake Johanna Volunteer <br />1740 - Fidelity E3ank & 7rust <br />1741 - American National E3ank <br />Fire Uept. - <br />$3960.00 <br />3609.00 <br />5182.93 <br />Copies of a{etter dated �ecember 30, 196E3 from Mr. Bruder of HUD <br />was distributad to the Council and Attorney. The formai app9ication <br />for a federal grant to help flnance Water Improvement Nos. 68-2 8 68-3 <br />was inctuded with Mr. Rruder's Letter. Various sections of the appti- <br />cation were referred to Attorney Caurtney, Banister Enqineering and <br />Peter Popovich. it was requested that the forms be compfeted by the <br />above consuitants and that all be given to Mr. Courtney on or before <br />Thursday, January 9.
