<br />City of Arden Hills <br /> <br />Chapter 4 Animals and Pets <br /> <br />440.04 Allowable Animals. The prohibition of this Section and the requirement for a permit <br /> <br />shall not apply to the following, which shall be allowed in the city as a matter of right: <br /> <br />a. Non-poisonous or non-venomous snakes or other snakes not defined as wild or <br /> <br />exotic in Section 400. <br /> <br />b. Birds kept indoors <br />c. Mice, rabbits, gerbils, white rats, guinea pigs, chinchillas, lizards, and other <br /> <br />small animals capable of being continuously kept in a cage. <br /> <br />440.05 Raising of Animals for Pelts. The raising of wild and exotic animals for pelts may be <br /> <br /> <br />permitted under a Special Use permit. The applicant for the permit shall provide the City with <br /> <br /> <br />proof of insurance including public liability insurance with limits of not less than one hundred <br /> <br /> <br />thousand dollars ($100,000). The insurance shall provide coverage for liability resulting from the <br />ownership or possession of the animal(s) being permitted. <br /> <br />440.06 Impounding of Animals. Any wild or exotic animal kept in violation of this Section may <br /> <br /> <br />be impounded by the City. Notice of the impoundment shall be provided to the owner. Unless <br /> <br /> <br />the impounded animal is reclaimed within five regular business days and either removed from the <br /> <br /> <br />City within the time limit established by the Councilor permitted by a special use permit, or <br /> <br /> <br />unless the owner petitions the District Court for a determination that the animal is exempt from <br /> <br /> <br />the provisions of this Section, the animal may be destroyed or sold.
