It is the intention of the Council to regulate and license certain types of <br /> <br />businesses, occupations, and activities to the end that the public welfare shall be protected and <br /> <br />promoted. Differentiation in the license fees charged under this Chapter is based upon the <br /> <br />judgment of the Council as to the probable expense involved in policing and inspecting various <br /> <br />businesses, In some cases insurance coverage shall be required, where in the opinion of the <br /> <br />Council a business offers an unusual opportUnity for loss or damage. <br /> <br />300.02 License Required. It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in any business, <br /> <br />occupation or activity for which a license fee is imposed by the provisions of this Chapter without <br /> <br />first obtaining a license so to do. <br /> <br />300.03 Persons Subject to Chapter. Whenever a license is required by this Code for the <br /> <br />maintenance, operation or conduct of any business or establishment, or engaging in any activity <br /> <br />or occupation, any person who by himself or herself or through an agent, employee or partner, <br /> <br />holds himself or herself fonh as being engaged in the business, occupation, or activity or solicits <br /> <br />patronage therefor, actively or passively, or perfonns or attempts to perform any part of such <br /> <br />business, occupation, or activity in the City, shall be subject to the requirements of this Chapter <br /> <br />and shall be responsible for obtaining the required license. <br /> <br />3 - 1 <br />
