Disk gol f course/Bocce golf course <br /> The PTRC is cxploring the idea of a disk golf course or boccc golf course becausc these <br /> activities provide another way for citizcns to enjoy our parks, The estimated cost is $7,500, <br /> location to be dctcrmincd <br /> 2, Fenced dog park <br /> While a lcnced dog park has bccn proposed as a potential stratcgy, it appears that Ramsey <br /> County is discussing thc idea of adding a dog park to Tony Schmidt Regional Park, <br /> Discussion of this option should follow that decision. Sta[[estimates the cost of this <br /> development at $15.()()O. <br /> " Improve warming hOllse conditions at Frceway Park and Hazelnut Park. <br /> .'- <br /> These parks sec incrcased use during the winter months and the currcnt warming houscs arc <br /> inadequate. The condition of the warming houscs has been addrcssed by Council action, <br /> 4. Study the feasibility of improving Valentine Park, . <br /> Thc park floods every spring due to the fact that it is at alo\ver elevation than Lake <br /> Valentinc. The play structure, warming hOllse, and baseball field are routinely tlooded, <br /> Replacemcnt of the play structure has been delaycd several times due to these issues. <br /> Information on costs and benelits of improving the park, and consideration of othcr options <br /> for providing a park for thc ncighborhood, will lead to a future recommendation. <br /> STRATEGIES FOR TRAILS <br /> Trail dcvclopment has laggcd behind the City's investment in park facilitics for a number of <br /> years. The PTRC recommends development of an arterial or "core" trail system that provides <br /> access to all areas of the community and in addition, provides needed access to the trail systems <br /> in adjaccnt communities and to the regional trail system, The proposed trail segments also <br /> hecome an integral part 0 f the overall transportation network. <br /> 1. Tony Schmidt Park Railroad underpass <br /> This improvement has becn scheduled for construction this year and will provide improved <br /> access to the Park from neighborhoods to the north utilizing alrcady completed portions of <br /> the Arden Hills trail net\vork. It will also form a strong connection with other recommcnded . <br /> arterial trails. cspecially the anticipated Ramsey County trail connecting Tony Schmidt with <br /> Long Lake Regional Park <br />
