ANDERSEN MEl\IORIAL <br /> TRAIL. <br /> \VHEREAS, Elmer L. Andersen served the people of Minnesota for many years and in many <br /> capacities, including that of Governor. State Senator, and Chairman of the University of <br /> Minnesota Board of Regents; <br /> \VHEREAS, Governor Andersen had a deep and abiding interest in preserving the natural and <br />. historical resources of the State and Nation for the use and enjoyment of the general public; <br /> \VIIEREAS, Governor Andersen was instrumental in the creation of Voyageurs National Park, <br /> the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum's Andersen Horticultural Library and the <br /> Ramsey County Historical Society along with the restoration and interpretation of many state <br /> historic sites; <br /> \VHEREAS, Governor Andersen was recognized by thc Izaak Walton League and the <br /> Minnesota Parks and Trails Council for his tireless dTorts in conservation and natural resource <br /> protection; <br /> \VHEREAS, Govemor Andcrscn lived on the shorcs of Lakc Johanna for a quarter century, <br /> gaining pleasure and perspective from the natural resourccs of Arden I !ills; <br /> \VIIEREAS, Arden Hills, Ramsey County and New Rrighton have the opportunity to create a <br /> regional trail linking two regional parks. consistent with Governor Andersen's stated interests. <br /> NO\V. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Arden Hills dedicates and <br /> designates the existing segment of trail extending nOltheast from the intersection of Cleveland <br /> and County Road D to the boundary orTony Schmidt Regional Park as the Elmer L. Andersen <br /> Memorial Trail. <br />. <br />
