<br />PREFACE <br /> <br />The Metropolitan CDuncil's 2030 RegiDnal Parks PDlicy Plan as adopted on June 29, <br /> <br /> <br />2005, identified TDny Schmidt Park as a regional park additiDn to the regional park system. <br /> <br /> <br />Ramsey County began acquiring land for the park in 1958 as Dne of several lake front <br /> <br /> <br />County parks that provided facilities for swimming, picnicking and bDating. Over the years, <br /> <br /> <br />the park area was expanded to 217 acres. In 1998, the County began a phased <br /> <br /> <br />redevelopment Dfthe park, financed primarily through County general Dbligation bonds. <br /> <br /> <br />Recent improvements tD the park include new entry roads, parking IDtS, bDat launch, <br /> <br />swimming beach, paved trails, play areas, picnic shelters, gazebD and associated site <br /> <br />amenities.
