<br /> <br />Approved: 3/12/07 <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br />WORK SESSION MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 20, 2007; 5:15 P.M. <br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Mayor Stan Harpstead called to order the work <br />session meeting at 5:37 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Stan Harpstead, Councihuembers David Grant, Brenda Holden, <br />David McClung, and Fran Hohues <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also present were: Community Development Director, Karen Barton; Assistant City <br />Administrator, Schawn Johnson; Finance Director, Sue Iverson; Public Works Director, <br />Greg Hoag; and Parks and Recreation Manager, Michelle Olson <br /> <br />Others present were: City Attorney, Jerry Filla <br /> <br />Commission and Committees- <br /> <br />A, Proposed Ordinance Language: <br />Mayor Stan Harpstead provided the City Council with an overview of the proposed commission <br />and committee ordinance changes. Mayor Harpstead noted that the City's existing language in <br />the City Code does not have enabling legislation for a number of the City's committees and <br />commissions. Also, the City does not have language that addresses term limits, annual <br />appointments, or the appointment of non-residents. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Schawn Johnson stated that City staff has been working with City <br />Attorney Jerry Filla on creating a new ordinance that addresses many of the City Councils <br />concerns regarding the existing committee, commission, and task force structure. City staff <br />requested City Council input regarding the proposed changes to Section 220 of the City Code. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden asked if the length of term requirements would apply to the Economic <br />Development Authority since this group is made up of City Councihuembers. <br /> <br />City Attorney Jerry Filla said that he would review the current structure of the Economic <br />Development Authority and make the necessary changes to the proposed ordinance. <br />
