<br />After the removal of the stone, our Engineering firm, Wiss, Janey, Elstner, will do an <br />examination of the existing conditions. Based on WJE's observations, there may be additional <br />costs for repair. Since these repairs will be of a time sensitive nature, staff also seeks <br />authorization to do additional repairs up to $25,000, as may be recommended from WJE. <br />WJE had originally estimated the cost of repairs to be $105,000 to $125,000. <br /> <br />Financial Implications <br /> <br />Staff recommends that funding for this project come from the PIR fund. (see attached <br />memorandum from Finance Director Sue Iverson) The City will attempt to recover the costs of <br />this project through the upcoming mediation/arbitration proceedings. <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Motion to Award the Contract for the Chimney Recladding Project-City Hall Building to <br />Building Restoration Corporation in the amount of$119,168. <br /> <br />This includes the bid amount of $94,168.00 plus an additional $25,000.00 (as needed) in repairs <br />that may be necessary upon discovery by WJE after removal of the existing stone. <br /> <br /> <br />\\Metro-inet.us\ardenhills\Building\City Ha1l\Chimney repair-City Council memo.doc <br />
