The purpose of this discussion is to provide the City Council an overview of all aspects of
the CIP and briefly describe each of the components.

Ideally, a five-year CIP is developed annually, using the previous C]P as a base and updating
items and adding new projects as they come up. The items identified in the first year of the C]P
are typically adopted as Capital Improvements for that year's budget. The second year of the CIP
is a work plan from which to prepare the following year's budget. Years three through five are
used as a planning tool to have an idea of upcoming future projects. A copy of the current CIP is
attached. Staff is requesting comments and input from the City Council in order to prepare the
2008-2012 CIP.

DISCUSSION

Techno]ol!V Master Plan (SchawnlGrel!)
In late 2002, the City Council adopted a Technology Master Plan that outlined the following
objectives:

\\RVN AS I \AHdata$\PR&PW\Engineering\2007\Work _ Sessions\4-16-07 _Memo _ CIP _ 2.doc
