'2 <br /> <br /> <br />Alcohol and Drug Testing Requirements <br /> <br />The Federal Highway Administration has rules requiring alcohol and drug testing of drivers who are required <br />to have a commercial driver's license. The DOT rules include procedures for urine drug testing and breath <br />or saliva testing. <br /> <br />Pre--employment (drug), post-accident. reasonable suspicion. random. return-to-duty, and follow-up tests <br />are required. <br /> <br />- Employers must provide their employees with detailed information about alcohol misuse, the employer's <br />policy. the testing requirements. and how and where drivers can get help for alcohol and controlled <br />substance abuse. <br /> <br />Drug testing is conducted by analyzing a driver's urine specimen. Exceptions are <br />permitted for 28'6" twin trailers and mount combinations in drive-away operations. <br /> <br />Weight Limitations. Minnesota uses a number of different types of weighing equipmenl These include <br />portable scales. approved. privatetyowned scales. and official weigh stations along state trunk highways and <br />interstates. <br /> <br />Designated Highways <br /> <br />These are Minnesota's State T nunk Highway system. which include routes designated as Interstate (I). <br />United States (US). and Minnesota (MN). plus certain designated local highways. All carry a ten-ton <br />limitation.
