BUFFALOLAKE-EDA
PO Box 206
Buffalo Lake, MN 55314
March 28, 2006

Gentlemen:

I have Imown Ed von HoItum since March, 1995. He came to our small City to be the
bank president.

Ed and I have worked together on several local organizations and through business
affairs. Mr. von Holtum has always worked vvith and for the City of Buffa 10 Lake, our
residents and businesses. He helped the City finance the new 4-plex. He worked with
the businesses in town helping them put together a workable financial package to expand
and start new businesses. My office was across the street from the bank. On Fridays I
could see him leave in his blue jeans and work shoes, after a while I had to ask him what
he was doing. He told me that Fridays were scheduled to visit with the area fanners, just
to visit and find out what their needs were.

In June 2003, a tornado ripped our little City apart, destroying Main Street and damaging
half of the homes. This unforgettable day energized Ed. He spent many hours working
with the federal and state departments searching for grants and loans to rebuild Buffalo
Lake. He was president of our local EDA, focusing on rebuilding main street was the
EDA top priority. December 2005 was a great time. The Buffalo Lake - EDA
accomplished its goal, due in great part to Ed's dedication. We had many highs and
lows. This roller coaster time was emotional to this board. Our pep talk from Ed was
"we wiD rebuild Buffalo Lake, we will find a way". He kept us going, and we did find a
way. Main Street Buffalo Lake is rebuilt and looks great again.

Buffalo Lake will miss Ed van Holtum. We were very fortunate having him promoting
the City of Buffalo Lake these past ten years.

Sincerely,

Connie Kottke
Buffalo Lake EDA - Sec.
Retired City Clerk
