Procedure <br /> <br />Emergency Public Information <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> <br />The purpose of this Standing Operating Plan is to establish a plan for the orderly dissemination of <br />necessary information to the public, in a timely manner, during emergency or post emergency <br />operations. <br /> <br />Direction <br /> <br />All releases to the media will be made through the Public Information Office (PlO). The Mayor or City <br />Administrator (or their designees) are the only officials authorized to perform this role. <br /> <br />Method <br /> <br />During an emergency: <br /> <br />]. Evaluate the scopc of emergency and appropriate P]O response. <br /> <br />2. Establish media briefing room and time schedule for releases/updates. <br />. If the scale of the emergency warrants, the Sheriffs Department office at 14] I Paul Kirkwold <br />Drive, Arden Hills, (65]) 266-7300 will be used. <br />.. Smaller emergencies will be addressed through the City Administrator's office and City Hall <br />conference rooms. <br />. In all cases, the public will access information through and from the City Administrator's Office. <br /> <br />3. Inform media ofPIO plan, location, and schedules. <br /> <br />4. Meet with Operations Team leaders (or their designees) to assess content of information release and <br />current incident status. <br /> <br />5. Open Public Information Center to media and public. <br /> <br />6. Release prepared message to the media and leaders of all city, state, volunteer, etc., service groups. <br /> <br />18 <br />
