<br />Reasons for the Procedures <br /> <br />Tornadoes, floods, blizzards, and other natural disasters can affect the City of Arden Hills. In addition, <br />major disasters such as train wrecks, plane crashes, explosions, accidental releases of hazardous <br />materials, and enemy attack pose a potential threat to public health and safety in Arden Hills. An <br />emergency plan is needed to ensure the protection of the public from the effects of these hazards. <br /> <br />Purpose of the Procedures <br /> <br />The City of Arden Hills has many capabilities and resources which could be used in response to any <br />major disaster. These include the facilities, equipment, manpower, and skills of both government and <br />non-government professions and groups in Arden Hills. The purpose of this plan is to ensure the <br />effective coordinated use of these resources to: <br /> <br />I. Maximize the protection of life and property <br />2. Ensure the continuity of government <br />3. Sustain survivors <br />4. Repair essential facilities and utilities <br /> <br />Lel!al Basis and References <br /> <br />1. That is, government agencies will perform <br />emergency activities related to those they perform on a day-to-day basis.
