The <br />Property Records and Revenue Department includes the County Assessor, County <br />Auditor, County Treasurer and County Recorder functions. The Director leads, <br />manages and strategically plans the Department's operations. In 2006, the Department <br />was responsible for: <br />. valuing, classifYing and sending tax bills for 160,000 taxable real estate parcels <br />. receiving, receipting and depositing over $900,000,000 <br />. recording 140,000 documents relating to property titles <br />. providing election services for over 300,000 voters <br /> <br />1993-1997 Judge of the Minnesota Tax Court. The Minnesota Tax Court is a statewide, <br />administrative court with jurisdiction of property valuation cases and appeals of final <br />orders of the Commissioner of Revenue. A Judge is responsible for case scheduling, <br />pre-trial motions, conduct of the trials and writing the decisions. A Judge often <br />participates in Continuing legal education classes and other meetings to educate the <br />public on their rights to appeal. <br /> <br />1991 - 1993 Commissioner of Revenue. The Minnesota Department of Revenue is responsible for <br />collecting the majority of the state's revenues. The Department's mission was to win <br />compliance with Minnesota's tax laws through customer service, audit, collection and <br />appeal processes. <br /> <br />1990 - 1991 Executive Director of the Minnesota Taxpayers Association. The Minnesota Taxpayers <br />Association is a nonprofit organization that provides tax research and information to its <br />members in order to foster better tax policies for the State of Minnesota. <br /> <br />1973 - 1990 Attorney for the Minnesota Department of Revenue. Began as an inheritance and gift <br />tax attorney. Then became the department's research attorney responsible for drafting <br />and promulgating rules and scheduling administrative hearings. When all legal and <br />legislative matters were consolidated, served as manager of the division. Later appeals <br />were added to the division. The division was in-house counsel to the Commissioner <br />and Department employees.
