<br />~ <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />EN HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />July 24, 2007 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM 4.G. <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br />Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator <br /> <br />Kristine Giga, Civil Engineer .~ <br />Greg Hoag, Public Works Director <JIll.->- <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Siems Court/Lake Johanua Boulevard Intersection <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />At the June I I, 2007 City Council meeting, the City Council directed staff to proceed with making <br />modifications to the intersection of Siems Court and Lake Johanna Boulevard, using Alternative A. <br />Alternative A involved removing and replaceing the curb and gutter north of catch basins in order to <br />increase the pavement width from 65' to 78' at the entrance. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS <br /> <br />The contractor for the 2006 PMP, Amt Construction Company, Inc., gave the City a quote for this work <br />in the amount of $12,696.88. This was over twice the amount staff had estimated at $5,755; therefore, <br />staff sought additional quotes from two other contractors. The table below shows a summary of the <br />results. <br /> <br />Contractor Quote <br />T.A. Schifsky and Sons, Inc. $5,723.00 <br />Amt Construction Company, Inc. $12,696.88 <br />Forest Lake Contracting, Inc. $13,411.00 <br /> <br />The lowest quote received was from T. A. Schifsky and Sons, Inc. in the amount of$5,723. This cost <br />would be charged to the Permanent Improvement Revolving Fund (PIR). <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />Authorize staff to retain the services ofT.A.
