<br />~ <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />EN HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />July 24, 2007 <br /> <br />Agenda Item 4H <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br />Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator <br /> <br />Karen Barton, Community Development Directo$D <br />James Lehnhoff, City Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Metropolitan Council Comprehensive Land Planning Grant <br /> <br />Reauested Council Action <br /> <br />Motion to approve Resolution 07-64, authorizing a grant request to, and execution of a <br />grant agreement with the Metropolitan Council for a $20,000 Planning Assistance Grant <br />associated with the City's Comprehensive Plan Update. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />In May of this year, legislation was passed allowing the Metropolitan Council to make a <br />one-time transfer of up to $1 million dollars from the Livable Communities <br />Demonstration Account to a planning assistance fund for grants or loans. <br /> <br />The Metropolitan Council adopted need-based criteria for awarding available local <br />planning program assistance and established maximum grant amounts for eligible <br />grantees to assist them in reviewing and updating their Comprehensive Plans. <br /> <br />The Metropolitan Council recently notified the City of our eligibility for this grant in an <br />amount of $20,000. <br /> <br />The grant can be used to pay for staff time, consultant and professional seNices, <br />printing and publishing, and is subject to the following terms and conditions: <br /> <br />Cily of Arden Hills <br />Met Council Camp Plan Grant Memo to Council <br />July 24, 2007 <br /> <br />\\Metro-inet.uslardenhiI/slPlanning\Community Deve/opmentlCouncil Agenda ItemslO72407 - Met Council Planning Grant memo to Council.doc <br />Page 1 0[2 <br />
