EDC Minutes
June 20, 2007

The Mayor asked that each of the EDC members go out into the Community and try to talk to six
residents about their vision for the community of Arden Hills.

VI. BUSINESS FINANCE POLICY
Due to time constraints, this topic was not discussed.

VII. BUSINESS LICENSING DISCUSSION
Due to time constraints, this topic was not discussed.

VIII. COUNCIL UPDATE
The Mayor noted there was a meeting recently on the 10/96 interchange with the mobile home
park. He reminded the group what is being presented is a concept plan and is not a final plan.
He said there were over 200 people in attendance at that meeting and the theme focused on the
residents demanding their homes not be taken and asking the Council to continue exploring other
options for this intersection. He said the "Briarknoll neighborhood" group also attended the
meeting as they are concerned about traffic levels and the speed on Highway 10. The Big Ten
has approached the Mayor and indicated that they want to stay in Arden Hills and asked if the
City could help them find a new location.

IX. OTHER BUSINESS
Community Development Director Barton said the Holiday Inn is being sold and appears to have
an interested buyer. She said she has not heard any news on what the future buyer intends to do
with the hotel at this time.

Mayor Harpstead said that he and Rob met with Steve Wellington and found out his company
will be submitting a PUD for the County Road E and Lexington Avenue project and that they are
proposing a Walgreens within the development. He noted that Mr. Wellington also has talked
about possible fayade improvements with the current strip mall located there. There has not been
any talk in regard to the existing pharmacy. City Planner Lehnhoff noted that because of the
zoning of that property, the City has no say on whether or not a Walgreens can go there or not.
City Planner Lehnhoff reminded the group that this PUD will need a Public Hearing.

The Mayor commented that if the City had some literature with some good data in it about the
City, it would be helpful to have as handouts when talking with people.
