<br />Safe Routes to School Grant Approval <br />September 5,2007 <br />Page 2 of2 <br /> <br />BUDGET <br />If the City is awarded this grant, the funds for this project would need to be secured before June <br />2009, which is the end ofthe 2008 fiscal year for the State. Therefore, City Staff is proposing <br />that the engineering expenses be budgeted for in 2008 and construction costs in 2009. If <br />unsuccessful, the trail segments would be put on hold. A fourth and final solicitation is <br />scheduled sometime in 2009. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends a motion to authorize City Staff to apply for a grant through the Safe Routes <br />to School Program with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. <br /> <br />
