I spoke to you last week regarding our concern for the addition of a Grocery Store and Drug store in the present Arden Hill Shopping :Center: . As I mentioned to yon, I am not a resident of Arden Hills. I am from Shoreview on the other side of the Lexington Avenue. We are affected by the expansion of the shopping center fur Drug store and Grocery store for the following reasons: 1) Traffic at the comer of Lexington and County Road E is already congested. It is very difficult to get in and out of the shopping center parking lot with the present traffic. If you add a Big Box Drug store and Grocery store., it is going to be dangerous for the citizens of Arden Hills and Shoreview who are being served by the present businesses in the shopping center. 2) As you know, the traffic from YMCA, Cub Foods / Subway Shopping Center and Target bring lots of traffic. Most of the cars go through County Road E & Lexington. If these establishments were not there then new Grocery Store and Drug Store would be welcome. But with present situation any additional traffic, will affect the safety of the area. 3) In addition to above mentioned establishments, the Marathon Service Station brings lots of traffic. 4) The City of Arden Hills gave permission to developer to build office building beside the shopping center which was fine. Now the developer wants to change the office building to drug store and grocery store. I think there are lots of issues the planning commission, Council members, mayor and planner will have to address regarding safety and ecological implications.
