u <br />The Planning Charge The firm of Partners & Sirny Architects was retained by Northwestern <br />College to develop a Campus Master Plan that integrated academic <br />planning with facilities planning. <br />This Campus Master Plan was developed in response to the charges set <br />by the leaders of Northwestern College (NWC). Accordingly, the Plan <br />was to understand and develop solutions for the physical needs and <br />operational potentials of the College in light of issues affecting the col- <br />lege. <br />The major issues include: <br />1. Significant increase in enrollment over recent years <br />2. Enrollment limit expanding to 2,400 average FTE <br />3. Increasing integration of educational and administrative operations <br />with technology <br />4. Campus physical capacity <br />The planning charge/ directives were also influenced by general issues <br />on campus. <br />Among them: <br />• organization and operation <br />• coordination with local developments <br />• internal and external relationships <br />• improvements in circulation <br />• characteristics of student population <br />Among others, the Campus Master Plan was to examine and reflect: <br />• the inventory of site and building use <br />• student enrollment projections <br />• space utilization <br />(taken from Space Utilization Study of April 2001) <br />• analysis of projected facilities needs <br />• campus' ability to expand <br />• evaluation of the campus image and visibility <br />• confirmation of campus goals <br />• recommendations for campus development <br />• cost estimates for the recommendations <br />NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE CAMPUS MASTER PLAN PARTNERS & SIRNY ARCHITECTS PAGE 1.1 <br />
